Wandering Photography

Wandering through Paris was the perfect time to get back into my photography which I absolutely love. I don’t claim to be good, or know loads about all the aspects and details, I simply point and shot at what I believe looks good. I don’t want to get into the technicalities of it. I enjoy it, I don’t want to lose interest because it gets to complicated so here are some of my Paris pictures. I hope you enjoy them.

Wandering Update!

So I am currently heading home from my destination (sad face), having had an incredible time, a place of romance and fashion, it is one of the most cliche places on earth and yet it didn’t feel like that at all. With cold temperatures but lovely skies of blue we couldn’t have asked for better weather this time of year. I would like you to guess where I am heading home from. I would give you picture clues but you would guess straight away as the sights are iconic which is clue number 1!

Clues:

1. Iconic sights.
2. Art art and more art!
3. Crepes! (Yum)
4. Pastries! (Yum again!)
5. Fashion. (Way to expensive!)
6. Mona Lisa.

So off you go and start guessing!

Thank you for wandering with me!

Wandering Through Life

I went shopping today (I’m an addict) with my mum (Bad influence!) and we wandered through the shops together picking our way through the sales trying to find wonderful bargains. I’m trying to get another pair of trousers that I got for Christmas that were a bit small and I was going to use as my motivation pants, but not anymore…I like food a bit to much! But in the process I got a dress.

So you guys might have seen my recent post of Affordable Wandering with this outfit:3Yes, I bought this dress, and yes I love it! Its beautiful and stunning and I can’t wait to wear it, however now looking at it in reality the shoes above don’t really go with it, you would need a silver or grey pair to go with this stunning dress and if you matched it with the bag above the shoes would bring out the detail on the bag.

I also bought a stunning gold and navy jump suit of intricate pattern and I aim to get a mannequin to show off outfits that I own to give people ideas on what goes well together so once I get that I will show you all what it is, because I kind of love it and I kind of want to wear it now but its way too cold so I guess I’ll have to wait till my next hot holiday!

Which brings me to my next point of call…I am off wandering the globe again tomorrow (sadly not warm enough for the jumpsuit, more like five layers!), I shall post when I get home all about it and where I have been but for now I want you guys to try and guess where I am going!

Thank you for wandering with me!

Fashionable Wandering

Whether its going out to a party, going to the pub or going to a restaurant, we like to look good. (Hoping you won’t drop that meatball sauce that you just HAD to order all down yourself!). I have a passion for fashion (Oh rhymed!) that I would like to share with you. No I do not keep up with the runway fashions, I would not go out wearing a playing card, yes I have seen it on the runway and no it wasn’t a spoof! The biggest problem I find with fashion is money. We don’t want to end up spending our wages before we get them! However I have managed, through huge help of my mother who has passed on this “bargain gene” to me, to find away to be fashionable and chic on a budget wage. So I’m going to show you a beautiful outfit under the price of £30, admittedly the sales will help me at them moment. I am aiming for chic but not over the top. So here goes, take a look at my outfit!

Now I know what you are thinking…she can’t count. I honestly can, however we have to take into account one small magical word known as:

CASHBACK!

For those who have no idea what I’m going on about, cash back is where you go via certain sites and get a certain amount of money back on your buys. The best sights to use are Quidco and TopCashback. By searching their websites, I found that Quidco had the highest cashback at 8%, by clicking on New Look via the site it automatically returns 8% of your total to an account with quidco. You can have it paid out via paypal, into your bank account or in vouchers. With this 8% cashback it brings the total down to

£29.44!

However check terms on each use!

I hope you like the outfit as much as I do, let me know your thoughts on it and which playsuit you prefer?

Wandering With The Pride

The majority of us love animals, and I’ve noticed the majority of those on the internet love cats. So I’m just going to take it a bit further and talk about big cats! Recently I’ve come across an issue that a Zoo near Edinburgh is having to face. They are trying to rescue four stunning male Lions. These Lions are ex-circus, have been abused in the Circus they were in the “care” of. Sadly their definition of care was a tiny cage that housed all four of them, with terrible conditions and hazardous objects that they could easily injure themselves on. Having been castrated and their claws removed from their paws to make it less dangerous for the animal trainers, sadly they are petrified of humans. They cower away from the sight of humans with implements that could potentially hurt them, proving how much they have suffered. These magnificent creatures, reduced to cringing fear. Something that should never be seen. However, after months of hard work, paperwork and fighting, these Lions were rescued. Taken to a wildlife rescue center in Belgium they are now safe and secure, although not permanently. A home is needed for them. A forever home.

One Zoo is trying to step up to this mark. The Five Sisters Zoo in Livingstone near Edinburgh. Known for rescuing ex-circus bears successfully in the past they decided that they could try to give these Lions a home. With a two acre enclosure located, all they need is the money raised to help build it and bring the Lions into their new home. However this is no easy feat for they need £150,000 by April and are currently only at £23,437. When I saw this story, I thought it was time to do something, take my part in helping raise awareness for this and encourage people to pledge and donate just a little money for no amount is too small, it will all help in getting those Lions to a safe forever home. So one day, if you visit this wonderful generous Zoo,  and you wander around their large safe enclosure, you will know that you have had a part in building this home for them.

Wandering Through Strasbourg

Wandering Through Strasbourg

Map of Strasbourg

Map of Strasbourg

My first trip away, without family or the school was to the beautiful little city of Strasbourg in Eastern France on the border of Germany. Which some might say you can walk to and yes you can, when its not a heat wave and 35 degrees. The hair suffered and don’t even talk about the red face! I stayed their for two nights which was plenty if you are on a flying visit but I always suggest more if you can afford the time and money, simply to take your time exploring. Strasbourg International Airport is their main airport and has a train station within that takes you straight to city center, making it nice and easier to transport to and from your hotel.

Hotel:

Adagio Access Strasbourg Petite France

27 rue de Wasselonne , 67000 Strasbourg, France

The price wasn’t astronomical when we went, and looking it up now for a date in June at random it is £118 for two nights for two people.

The rooms are lovely and contemporary with wonderful air conditioning (We needed it!). With small kitchens if you want to save money and make your own sandwiches for your exploring. There is free wifi access in the hotel, which we all know for our generation is one of the most important aspects. (We tend to shrivel and get all moody without it!). With a 24 hour reception they are a wonderful hotel. If you go via a smaller company or independent guesthouses you might not get this therefore always check out the check in and check out times for they may be limited and not work with your travel times.

Although we didn’t use a car, their is private parking on sight however I am unaware as to whether you have to pay for it. Their is also a buffet continental breakfast in the morning for a certain fee which is often worth it as it sets you up for the day without having to waste time trying to find a place to eat.

Overall the hotel is lovely and welcoming and I would recommend it to those on a budget who still want a nice private hotel, not a hostel.

Places to Visit:

Strasbourg is simply stunning to walk around without even seeing the sights. So first I would simply say…walk. Get to the heart of the city and simply walk, take random turns, go down streets that look interesting, walk along the canal. You will come across beautiful sights they no one suggests on tourists sites. They are beautiful because you have come across them. However make sure you have map with you just in case you take the wrong turn to far trying to get back to the hotel. (It happens a lot!)

Places to see and things to do:

  1. Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg. This simply stunning cathedral cannot be put into words. Its presence in the city silences you once you see it. The architecture of it is incredible and a photographers eye will capture it so well sadly my pictures were not up to standard so I beg you to go look at it online and if you do one day get their, you’ll realize that pictures do not do it justice!
  2. Canal tours. The information you’ll learn is incredible. These tours are not expensive and run regularly throughout the day so you can fit it in with you instead of the other way around. You’ll get to see all the government building which seats the European Parliament and these are a fair way out and a bit harder to walk to and many other buildings and places of interest to captivate you.
  3. Parc de l’Orangerie. This park is in the North of Strasbourg, beautiful and serene with plenty to do and see their. Taking a stroll around it, taking in the scenery will relax you, or you can go to the free small zoo there. They enclosures are smaller than average but well kept and the animals seem to be well looked after. The flamingos love showing off they are a stunning sight to see. The park also includes a children’s car track, bowling and many other fountains and kiosks to browse through.
  4. Kehl. The German border to Strasbourg (The one we walked to…”only a little walk away” more like 7.6km!) You can get the tram part of the way and its wonderful to say you went across a border on your trip.

Restaurants:

Due to the heat we didn’t eat much while we were away, and at night we didn’t venture far due to exhaustion but we did find one little restaurant on the canal and if you book early in the day you may just get a seat on the veranda which is perfect.

Starting To Wander

I am a wanderer. I am a dreamer. I am Wanderer Dreams. Well…in anonymity anyway. I decided to do this blog as my New Years Resolutions. I’m hoping the people that might one day like and follow this blog will do me the great honor of joining me as I wander through life. Join me to know what you will be observing in this quirky little blog:

  1. Obstructed by embarrassing situations, or “Miranda Moments” as I like to call them.
  2. Rushing to keep up with the fashions that try to ruin my bank account.
  3. Reading continuously and hoping to encourage others to engage themselves in the such wonderful imaginations of authors.
  4. Traveling to far off destinations (one day at least) for now sticking to Europe and America and helping give tips and advice on how to travel in the most luxurious and wonderful manner without (fingers crossed) breaking the bank!
  5. Animals. You could say I am a little animal mad. You will often find cute pictures of animals on here but mostly I want to aim at promoting and helping make people aware of the issues that animals face. Lots of charities and ways you can help will pop on this blog.
  6. Food. Who does not love food. (My scales for one) Baking and cake decorating tips and ideas but I promise to balance it out with healthy tasty snacks for those of us who are trying so desperately hard to lose that little bit of holiday weight.
  7. Bargains. I will post links on bargains I come across usually because I just can’t keep quiet on how much I paid for this top, or that scarf, or those 50 pairs of shoes I have barely contained in my wardrobe!
  8. Last of all, I would simply like to share with you my life and hope to find that I am not the only one that manages to get myself into pickles.

Thank you and you are welcome to wander with me.
